The Community Impact of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association

One of the oldest bar associations in the country, the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association (DMBA) was established more than 175 years ago to support the advancement of high-quality legal education throughout the state and to acknowledge ethical conduct. Additionally, in an effort to advance equitable legal education in underserved communities, the DMBA established its own 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit. Since its inception, the DMBA Foundation has coordinated several legal programs in collaboration with state and school agencies, including the Pro Bono Mentorship Program with the Thomas M. Cooley Law School; the School Partnership Program scholarships; and the For the Seventh Generation Program for indigent children.

Through the ongoing contributions of professionals such as Cullen McKinney, the DMBA Foundation continues its efforts to develop Detroit and the surrounding communities. Currently, Cullen McKinney operates out of the private firm Tanoury, Nauts, McKinney & Garbarino, PLLC, with a focus in all forms of negligence law litigation.
